Water

The Burkesville City Water Department has been awarded three consecutive Area Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) awards from the Kentucky Division of Water. This award is presented to those water systems that meet area wide optimization goals for both settled and filtered water. Superintendent Joe Appleby: The Water and Waste Water Superintendent supervises and assists with daily operations and maintenance of the Water and Wastewater plant systems and performs related duties. The superintendent’s water department requirement is to provide high-quality drinking water to the city and county customers while adhering to strict state and Federal regulations.

The superintendent’s waste water department requirement is to properly treat and dispose of residential and business waste water while meeting state and federal disposal requirements in a cost effective manner.

Sanitation

Director David Mcintyre: Supervises the street and sanitation department and its employees. The director and his crew clean and maintain city streets, city hall, the city garbage maintenance building and city grounds. The director supervises the collection and disposal of solid waste. The director’s city street department duties include developing monthly maintenance plans for streets and sidewalks and monitoring the execution of those plans. He insures safety rules and regulations are in compliance for all directed personnel. The director’s city sanitation department duties include the direction of collection and disposal of solid waste within the corporate limits of the City of Burkesville. He assures compliance with state and federal solid waste disposal regulations.

Assistant Director Bryant Young: Assists the director in supervising the Public Works Department and its employees. Her and his crew clean and maintain city streets, city hall, the city garbage maintenance building and city grounds. He assists the collection and disposal of solid waste. The assistant director’s city street department duties include developing monthly maintenance plans for streets and sidewalks and monitoring the execution of those plans. He insures safety rules and regulations are in compliance for all directed personnel.
