Supervisor Justin Graves: The Telecommunications supervisor manages day-to-day business in the Cumberland County E-911 Center, develops and maintains plans, policies, and procedures relating to effective emergency communication, ensures the E-911 Center is fully and effectively staffed, including hiring, disciplining, and terminating of employees. The supervisor keeps accurate reports and statistics of emergency and non-emergency calls made to the Cumberland County PSAP (Public Service Answering Point), acts as Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) of the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), who is the Liaison between the local agency and the Kentucky State Police Compliance Staff. As TAC, also ensures all CJIS Terminal activity falls under policy and all paperwork related to Terminal Activity is checked, secured, and organized correctly. The Telecommunications supervisor acts as the representative of 911 Dispatch in all meetings/functions. | |
Telecommunicators Chris Garvey: Duties of the telecommunicators include the receipt and transmission and relay of information concerning public safety and law enforcement. They receive all incoming emergency calls and dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical services (ambulance). They monitor a variety of radio frequencies, relay information for home, business, and school alarm systems. These telecommunicators also maintain a time stamped log of all radio communications. |

City police officer duties include patrolling the city on foot and in a police cruiser during assigned time shifts, enforcing federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. Officers respond to all calls during their shift, attend to the situation, and prepare timely accurate reports of incidents. Court duties include issuing citations for violations and appearing as a court witness. Officers make arrests when necessary and attend to the disposition of prisoners to the county jailer and transportation system. Officers control school crossing traffic and providing traffic control for accidents, fires, parades and funerals. A city police officer is responsible for securing the scene of a crime or accident within the city and performing preliminary investigations, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reporting.
Police Chief Wesley Long (Badge #351): Chief enforcement officer of the law for the city. The police chief plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and evaluates all activities and program of the police department to provide continuous security for the city. The chief is the supervisor of all police officers and dispatchers. Supervisory duties include formulating and implementing department policies and procedures, preparing and authorizing work schedules, signing department time cards. He is the custodian of all official Burkesville City Police Department records and controls access to documents for authorized personnel only. He schedules officer training plans. He ensures proper preparation and maintenance of all city police reports. He ensures the proper use of police cruisers and other department equipment. Chief Long directs the planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluates all the activities of the police department. He has been a city police officer since December 2010. He is also a Fire Arms Instructor. He is the K-9 Unit Handler and a Hazardous Material Technician. | |

Fire Chief Greg Cary: The Fire Chief has overall responsibility for recruiting, training, assigning, and supervising subordinate personnel for the Volunteer Fire Department. He establishes policies, procedures and techniques to provide the highest possible degree of fire control and prevention with the personnel and equipment available and administers zoning, regulations, subdivision regulations building inspections and code enforcements. The Fire Chief is also the Planning and Zoning Officer. He serves as the administrative official for zoning enforcement, unfit structure evaluation, fair housing regulations, utility franchises and oil and gas well drilling regulations. The fire chief ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures and coordinates safety meetings. The fire chief is also the City Animal Control Officer.
